An equally interesting situation is that the atomic wave packet is intially well localized, such that Δx≪λ and Δp≫ℏk. In this case, spontaneous expansion of the wave packet also plays an important role in the atom-cavity interaction. The detailed analysis will be discussed in a future publication.
