    • The NiAs structure was not actually included in either calculation. However, the packing efficiencies of NiAs are identical to NaCl and so in the spirit of the maximum packing principle we expect the free energies of these two structures also to be very similar. In that case, the LS compound predicted by both of these approaches at α∼0.4 probably should have either a NaCl, NiAs, or an equivalent random-stacked structure (see Sec. V).
