13. In Refs. 11 and 12 the derivation and linear theory of the single wave model were presented in the plasma physics context. However, as discussed in Sec. V there is a close analogy between the vorticity defect equation and the Vlasov-Poisson equation. Because of this analogy, the results in Refs. 11 and 12 can be directly applied to fluid mechanics after trivial changes in the notation.
