31. Electron density of N-(2,3-dimethoxybenzyl)-N-(3,4-dimethoxyphenethyl)acetamide, the de(methylthio) derivative of the amide (5), in its two most stable conformations was calculated by PM 3. Electron density (-0.202 and -0.198) of C-6′ on the phenethyl aromatic ring is larger than that (-0.189 and -0.187, respectively) of C-6″ on the benzyl aromatic ring.
