Electrocardiographic prediction of the success of cardiac resuscitation
-
19 Noc M, Weil MH, Tang W, Sun S, Pernat A, Bisera J: Electrocardiographic prediction of the success of cardiac resuscitation. Crit Care Med 1999, 27:708-714. In a porcine model of VF, no animals were resuscitated if coronary perfusion pressure was <8 mm Hg, maximum VF amplitude was <0.48 mV, mean amplitude was <0.25 mV, or dominant frequency was <9.9 Hz. In an additional validation study, defibrillatory shocks were not successful if the combination of mean amplitude and dominant frequency did not exceed the threshold values obtained in the derivation study.

N(alpha)-histogram analysis of the ventricular fibrillation ECG signal as predictor of countershock success
-
24 Ammann A, Mayr G, Strohmenger HU: N(alpha)-histogram analysis of the ventricular fibrillation ECG signal as predictor of countershock success. Chaos Solitons Fractals 2000, 11:1205-1212. In a porcine model of cardiac arrest, the random behavior of the ECG signal during VF has been investigated using the method of Nα-histograms. It has been shown that the more irregular the ECG of pigs in VF, the more easily they can be defibrillated.
