This paper demonstrates a correlation between the levels of IL-8 and the recruitment of lymphocytes in malignant and tuberculous pleural effusion. The anti IL-8 partially blocks the recruitment of lymphocytes in cancer and does so completely in tuberculosis. This study shows the activation of mesothelial and malignant cells after their activation by macrophage derivatives.
