    • The experimental setup used in this work is described elsewhere [9]. Distilled water sparged with appropriate gas 1 h before the irradiation and in the course of the work in 0.5 1 glass reservoir placed in a thermostated water bath. Liquid was constantly rotated through a thermostated stainless steel irradiation cell (inner diameter 2 cm, volume 50 ml) with the help of a peristaltic pump. Temperature of the solution inside the cell during irradiation was constant at 6 ± 1 °C. Sonication was conducted at ultrasound frequency of 22 kHz with variable intensity. Total absorbed acoustic power was measured calorimetrically. Emission spectra were collected from 200 to 500 nm using 0.6 m monochromator equipped with a 1200/mm grating with a resolution of 2.5 nm. A photomultiplier tube (FEU-100) sensitive in the 200-800 nm region was used as a detector. Each spectrum given in the figures is a concatenation of at least 15 individual spectra. The spectra were corrected against a calibrated 30 W deuterium lamp.
