22. Topological stereomutation by ring-opening of the three-membered ring followed by ring-closure anti to the opposite oxygen is possible. However, such a transformation does not result in any superficial change in spectra with our symmetric compound. 5a ⇌ [ring-opened peroxidophosphorane] ⇌ 5′a.
