6. Taxonomic examination of the sponge was carried out by Dr. John N. A. Hooper, Queensland Museum, South Brisbane, Qld, Australia, and it was concluded to be a new species of the genus Echinoclathria. Voucher specimen (No. QM G301466) has been deposited at Queensland Museum.
