These and additional experiments and computational results indicate that the preference for the in-phosphine 11 over its out isomer is much greater than the 1.3 kcal/mol given by the AMI calculations, and they indirectly lend support to the larger in/out energy differences found in the ab initio calculations for 2 and 15 (Chen, Y.; Pascal, R. A., Jr., unpublished results).
