    • Assuming no significant gluconeogenic flux from pyruvate to glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate, both C2 and C3 of pyruvate will contribute 1 carbon each to IPP via the DXP pathway. Incorporation via the mevalonic acid pathway would result in C2 of pyruvate contributing 2 carbons, and C3 contributing 3 carbons to IPP
