    • The pre-edge signal at a photon energy of 280 eV is dominated by Cu photoelectrons. At this energy the carbon contributions (C(2s), C(2p) photoelectrons) amount to less than 5% of the edge jump observed at 325 eV. Since the edge jump is proportional to the absolute amount of carbon adsorbed on the surface, the ratio beween the edge jump and the pre-edge signal can be used to estimate the overall coverage
