    • When MgO is used as the catalyst in a fixed-bed reactor at 1 atm and 200°C, acetone condensation takes place with a conversion of around 4%, with 85% selectivity to mesityl oxide (4-methyl-3-penten-2-one) and 15% to isomesityl oxide.
