    • 16 have argued persuasively that the bond-rupture force is not a "constant" that can be tabulated in the absence of consideration of the loading rate under which the bond was ruptured. (Conditions such as solvent, pH, etc. may also affect the measured bond force.) The measured bond-rupture forces that we have reported should therefore be considered as conditional bond-rupture forces measured under a specific set of conditions.
