The interconversion process is very slow and is negligble within hours if the complex is treated at low temperature and at low concentration. Therefore, pure 4·6 complex can be isolated if it is crystallized and carefully dissolved in water without heating. Upon heating, pure 4·6 complex is again converted into the original 85:15 mixture.
