Even though we never mentioned the word "arrogant" in our interviews, 10 interviewees used the word in describing Klaus. Another called him "egocentric," and a twelfth talked about his "self-assurance." Even those who did not think him arrogant were so conscious of this accusation that they brought up the issue in order to deny it.
