Capitalism is also deficient in this regard. As I wrote in Erasmus in May 1998, capitalism is a system without a heart, while socialism is a system without a brain. I suggested in that publication that a legitimate economic system, which might be called "solidarism," should be based on an equitable distribution of the wealth, in accord with a strict understanding of the imperatives of natural law.
