Advanced trauma life support instructor training in the UK: An evaluation
-
Moss G. Advanced trauma life support instructor training in the UK: an evaluation. Postgrad Med J 1998; 74:220-224. This paper reports on a questionnaire evaluation of the UK-based ATLS instructor course. It demonstrates that the course is regarded as being very effective in achieving most of its objectives, leaving small group teaching and questioning techniques to be improved.

Comparison of performance of interns completing the old (1993) and new interactive (1997) advanced trauma life support courses
-
Ali J, Adam R, Josa D, Pierre I, Bedaysie H, West U, et al. Comparison of performance of interns completing the old (1993) and new interactive (1997) advanced trauma life support courses. J Trauma 1999; 46:80-84. The authors compare performance after completing the old and new ATLS courses. Using objective structured clinical examination methodology for the assessment of clinical trauma management skills, the authors concluded that completing the new interactive ATLS course was associated with a superior performance compared with the old ATLS course.

Training in advanced trauma life support
-
Price A, Hughes G. Training in advanced trauma life support [Editorial]. BMJ 1998; 316:878. This editorial deals critically with the question of whether ATLS training is actually being provided to those who need it most. The incorporation of ATLS principles into undergraduate curricula is recommended.
