    • The seven-membered ring of 1 could be considered as a substituted diazatropone or diazatropolone, while the heterocyclic ring of 1 as a whole can be compared with a substituted polyazaazulene. The extranuclear imino group on the seven-membered ring can be considered as a carbonyl group for comparison with a tropone. The bicyclic ring has a total of ten π electrons (excluding the extranuclear imino functionality), and thus obeys the Hückel rule of aromaticity as well.
