Atsushi Uchida was born in Saitama, Japan, on September 25, 1972. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Keio University, Yokohama, Japan, in 1995 and 1997, respectively. He is currently workng toward the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at Keio University. His current research interests are control and synchronization of chaotic lasers and their applications, wavelength conversion in fibers, and optical nonlinear phenomena. Mr. Uchida is a member of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society, the Optical Society of America, the Japan Society of Applied Physics, the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, and the Laser Society of Japan.
