Studies titled "The Social Development of Young People" were carried out by the Center for the Sociology of Youth, Institute of Sociopolitical Research, Russian Academy of Sciences, with the participation of the author (Prof. V. I. Chuprov, supervisor), using a comparable method in twelve regions of the Russian Federation from 1990 through 1997. A total of 10,412 people between the ages of 15 and 30 were surveyed in 1990; 2,612 were surveyed in 1994, and 2,470 were surveyed in 1996, in the same age groups.
