    • Getzoff TP, Zhu G, Bohnert HJ, Jensen RG. Chimeric Arabidopsis thaliana ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase containing a pea small subunit protein is compromised in carbamylation. Plant Physiol 1998, 116:695-702. This article indicates that heterologous expression and stable assembly in the holoenzyme of a foreign small subunit in a transgenic plant is possible. These results also indicates that the presence of one foreign small subunit in eight affected carbamylation and carboxylation of the chimeric Rubisco.
