N-domain specific substrate and C-domain inhibitors of angiotensin converting enzyme
-
Deddish PA, Marcic B, Jackman HL, Wang H-Z, Skidgel RA, Erdos EG. N-domain specific substrate and C-domain inhibitors of angiotensin converting enzyme. Hypertension 1998, 31:912-917. The amino-terminal (N) domain of human somatic ACE exhibited a markedly higher catalytic rate for the hydrolysis of Ang-(1-7) than the carboxyl (C) domain. These studies indicate that Ang-(1-7) may be among a select number of peptides that are preferentially hydrolysed by the N domain of somatic ACE. At high concentrations (>1μM), Ang-(1-7) may function as a competitive inhibitor of the C domain.
