    • note
    • The study is a part of the salmon-monitoring program, carried out by the Swedish Board of Fisheries. Håkan Karlström, Markku Kilppala, Mikael Stridsman and Hans Wennström carried out, with skill and care, the long-term laborious fieldwork in large rivers. Stefan Stridsman tabulated the data and Anna-Greta Eklund carried out the scale reading. They work at the Research Office in Luleå and are all thanked for good work. Ulf Carlsson, County Board of Västerbotten and Arne Johlander, Research Office in Jönköping are thanked for electrofishing data from rivers the Vindelälven, Öreälven, Lögdeälven, Mörrumsån and Emån, respectively. Thanks go also to Dr Lars Karlsson, Salmon Research Institute, who provided valuable comments on the manuscript.
