    • The Rho-associated kinase (p160ROCK) was shown to be a downstream target of Rho in the process of neurite retraction. Neuronal cells were transfected with wild-type and dominant-negative p160ROCK. Bradykinin-induced filopodia formation was suppressed by microinjection of anti-N-WASP-antibodies and the depolymerisation of actin filaments by N-WASP was dependent on Cdc42 in vitro. • Epidermal growth factor or serum stimulated membrane ruffling was shown to be reduced in gelsolin-null fibroblasts. It was reported that these cells moved 50% more slowly than wild-type cells and overexpressed Rac fivefold, whereas re-expression of gelsolin reverted Rac-expression to wild-type levels and restored membrane ruffling and motility. • A class VI unconventional myosin is associated with a homologue of a microtubule-binding protein, cytoplasmic linker protein-170, in neurons and at the posterior pole of Drosophila embryos
    • Using an antibody against unconventional myosin VI, a 195 kDa polypeptide was co-immunoprecipitated from Drosophila embryo extracts. The cloned cDNA revealed sequence homology with D-CLIP 170, a putative dynactin-associated protein. An antibody to the Drosophila homologue, D-CLIP 190 also co-immunoprecipitated myosin VI and D-CLIP 190 was shown to bind to microtubules
