A prospective study evaluating the influence of CT scanning on the interobserver and intraobserver agreement of both treatment plan and fracture classification of tibial plateau fractures. Treatment plan was changed an average of 26% of the time after addition of the CT scan. The reason for change in treatment plan was usually depression or comminution not appreciated on plain radiographs.

A prospective protocol using instability in extension as the primary indication for surgical fixation of tibial plateau fractures. Patients with stable knees treated in a cast brace had excellent results. Reduction and percutaneous screw fixation with ligamentotaxis was successful in all cases except the AO C3 type fractures and severely comminuted split depressed fractures. The success rate with this protocol was 87% using Rasmussen's criteria.

Excellent biomechanical and histologic animal study of a calcium phosphate cement placed in metaphyseal defects. The high compressive strength and its gradual replacement by bone make this material an attractive alternative for use in tibial plateau fractures.
