Abdominal stab wounds: The role of selective management
-
Taviloglu K, Kayihan K, Erekin C, Calls A, Turel O. Abdominal stab wounds: the role of selective management. Eur J Surg 1998; 164; 17-21. This is a report of a large series of penetrating renal injuries. Although the paper was not intended specifically to address renal trauma, it lends support to non-surgical management of most stab wounds.

Traumatic intimal tear of the renal artery treated by insertion of a Palmaz stent
-
Goodman DNF, Saibil EA, Kodama RT. Traumatic intimal tear of the renal artery treated by insertion of a Palmaz stent. Cardio Intervent Rad 1998; 21.69-72. This case report describes renal salvage via therapeutic angiographic stenting. The poor experience of the present authors with arterial revascularization and the results of the preceding reference [10] demand our investigation of more reliable, less invasive management.

Are pediatric patients more susceptible to major renal injury from blunt trauma?
-
Brown SL, Elder JS, Spirnak JP. Are pediatric patients more susceptible to major renal injury from blunt trauma? J Urol 1998; 160:138-140. Pediatric renal trauma is less well understood than adult trauma. This paper argues that children are at substantial risk of major renal trauma, perhaps more so than adults.
