The parameters of the heteroatoms have been quoted according to: A. Streiwieser, Molecular Orbital Theory, Wiley: New York, 1967. See also: R. Hoffmann, J. Chem. Phys., 39 1397 (1963). For the calculation of the relative stability of the activated complexes ethylene was used as dienophile.

The configurations of the isomers were generated and the energies were subsequently minimized using the MM+ force field which is implemented in release 3.0 of HyperChem®. MM+ supplements the standard MM2 parameters (N. L. Allinger, J. Am. Chem. Soc., 99, 8127 (1977)). The minima obtained from the search were further optimized using the AMI wavefunction, M. J. S. Dewar, E. G. Zoebisch, E. F. Healy and J. J. P. Stewart, J. Am. Chem. Soc., 107, 3902 (1985) and the RHF approximation.
