    • [14a] The racemization barriers of a variety of helicenes have been computed with AM1, MNDO and PM3 by Haufe and coworkers. [14b] Their broad study showed that the barriers calculated by AMI match the experimental values better than any other method for penta- and hexahelicenes. This observation induced us to use AM 1 to calculate the barriers reported here.
