3. In fact system dynamics meetings had been held in the 1970s in France and Belgium, sponsored by AFCET, the French Association for Cybernetics and Economic Theory. There was also a meeting held at Geilo, Norway in 1976, referred to in Paal Davidsen's article later in this paper
4. This special issue is tangible evidence of the strengthening relationship between the System Dynamics Society and the Operational Research Society. In addition David Lane from the London School of Economics has recently published in JORS a comprehensive review of some influential system dynamics books, including Jay Forrester's original Industrial Dynamics.
