Method B: A solution of benzonitrile, 2-amino-2-methylpropanol (1.5 eq.), catalyst (20 % w/w) was refluxed in o-dichlorobenzene (180 °C) for 24 h and the product was isolated by direct chromalography to afford the oxazoline 1 (71 % yield).
