    • ΘX174 (50 μM/base pair) plasmid DNA was incubated for 1 hr at 25°C with the indicated amounts of 1, 2, or 7 (30mM Tris-HCl, 20 mM NaCl), then placed at 4°C and subjected to irradiation as indicated in Figures 2,3. The results were analyzed on 1% agarose gel (Tris-acetate buffer) stained with ethidium bromide. The photo-cleavage efficiency was determined as the degree of conversion of supercoiled DNA (form I) to circular nicked (form II) and linear (form III).
