    • In support of this hypothesis, agarose gel analyses of supercoiled plasmid cleavage reactions carried out under controlled atmospheric conditions (helium purge in an inert atmosphere bag) indicate that DNA cleavage by Ni(II)·Lys-Gly-His + oxone is insensitive to dioxygen, while Ni(II)·Gly-Gly-His + oxone cleavage is diminished slightly under conditions that significantly limit DNA cleavage by Fe(II)·bleomycin (in side-by-side reactions).
