    • 1H NMR analysis, and proposed that the β-form, in which the 1α-hydroxyl is equatorially oriented, may be responsible for biological activity. Synthesis and biological evaluation of the 2-methyl analogs 4 could settle out this issue because introduction of 2-methyl group would resulted in quilibrium shift to either one way in certain extent.
