The conformationally locked lone pairs on both O atoms of the cyclopentadienone ethylene acetal create a similar situation. This is manifested by the dimerization rate, which is 500 000 times faster over that of cyclopentadiene and 1070 times faster than that of the dimethoxyacetal: P. E. Eaton, R. A. Hudson, J. Am. Chem.
