18. In order to confine the dynamics of a chain to a tube-like region along the coarse-grained backbone of the chain, there are O(N) dynamics constraints needed. These constraints are imposed by the other chains. Though the very nature of the entanglements not understood, it seems obvious that they are directly related to the way the chains are interpenetrating.
