On the other hand, in method B, 2% aq NaOH solution (200 ml) was gradually dropped to a mixture of 1a (5 mmol, 942 mg), Raney Ni-Al alloy (5.0 g) and water (200 ml) for 0.5 hour at 90 °C. The reaction mixture was stirred for 4 hours and worked up as described above to give 2 and 3 in the ratio of 31:69, respectively (Run 6).
