The initial velocity of the inhibited reaction was determined under the conditions described for the protease assay at several fixed inhibitor concentrations in presence of 25, 50, 100, 200 and 400 • M substrate. Calculations were performed by non-linear regression analysis of the velocity data using the GraFit software (version 3.0, Erithacus Software Ltd, Staines, UK).
