    • 11. It is not clear why the thiol-adducts were not detected in Entries 2 and 3. One explanation may be that the epoxides 2 and 3 are solvated by MeOH through hydrogen bond which facilitates the epoxide ring opening. The resultant allylic cations are then trapped by the solvated MeOH molecules rather than the thiols.
