F. GrossJ. W. Van OrdenK. HolindeThe approach has recently been applied to the (Formula presented) process by de Jong and Nakayama [Phys. Lett. B 385, 33 (1996). Note that in Eq. (3) the sign for those two terms which involve (Formula presented) should be negative. Then (Formula presented) satisfies Eq. (2) with “(Formula presented)” replaced by “(Formula presented)”.]. In the approach of Gross et al., a hadronic form factor (Formula presented) is introduced at the NNmeson vertex and the standard Feynman propagator for the proton (Formula presented) is replaced by (Formula presented) de Jong and Nakayama construct a new (Formula presented) electromagnetic vertex (Formula presented) [Eq. (3)] to replace the conventional vertex (Formula presented) in order to satisfy the Ward-Takahashi identity. In our approach, we use (Formula presented) and the vertex (Formula presented) but we introduce two magnetic form factors (Formula presented) and (Formula presented) We have demonstrated that the contributions associated with (Formula presented) are essential for a successful description of the (Formula presented) experimental data ranging from 157 to 280 MeV.
