Plastid ontogeny during petal development in Arabidopsis
-
Pyke KA, Page AM: Plastid ontogeny during petal development in Arabidopsis. Plant Physiol 1998, 116:797-803. This paper shows that chloroplasts in petals of arc6 differentiate into leucoplasts in a normal manner despite the dramatically increased size of the plastids in the mutant. In wild-type, the chloroplasts in the rapidly expanding cells of the petal stalk all appear to initiate divisions as shown by virtually all chloroplasts having central constrictions.
