2. The clinical trials raised critical issues of ethics involving 14 major perinatal HIV prevention trials in nine developing countries. From each of these countries 14,050 HIV-infected pregnant women were offered either AZT, or a combination of AZT and 3TX, Nevirapine, Vitamin A, and vaginal lavage therapies. See Marshall, E.
