    • 4. Computers extend the more traditional publication and conference options. An overview of the key venues for this exchange include the following: Conferences: The academic professionals of public relations generally gather at the annual national/international conferences organized by the Association of Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), the International Communication Association (ICA), the National Communication Association (NCA), the regional conferences of the Central States Communication Association (CSCA), and the newly formed group in the Southern States Communication Association (SSCA). The practitioner professionals gather at conferences sponsored by the Public Relations Society of American (PRSA-includes academic representation), the International Public Relations Association (IPRA-includes academic representation), the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC includes academic representation) and the Association for Women in Communications (AWC has 42 % of its nearly 7,000 members in PR and includes academic representation). Publications: Academics in PR publish in Public Relations Review and the Journal of Public Relations Research (both refereed). Other scholarly journals accepting public relations articles include Management Communication Quarterly: An International Journal, NCA's Journal of Applied Communication Research and the World Communication Association's Communication Research Reports (all refereed journals). The regional refereed communication journals of CSCA, WSCA (Western States Communication Association), SCCA, and ECA (Eastern Communication Association) may occasionally have a public relations article. Nonrefereed publications include Public Relations Quarterly, PR Reporter, and the International Public Relations Review (an IPRA publication). One should note the more practitioner type public relations publications such as the Public Relations Strategist (formerly the Public Relations Journal) and Public Relations Tactics (both from PRSA), IABC's Communication World, and AWC's The Professional Communicator (Neff, 1995). The goal is not to be comprehensive but to suggest a number of major sites for public relations exchange.
