MCM-41 samples were prepared by crushing the particles between two glass slides and spreading them on a holey carbon film supported on a Cu grid. The samples were briefly heated under a tungsten filament light bulb in air before transfer into the specimen chamber. The images were recorded at magnifications of 24,000x to 49,000x.
