    • The word "soft" means that the dendrimer's branches have a very high degree of flexibility and the dendrimer behaver as a polymer (linear, stars, etc.) in solution with the possibility to be contracted or to interpenetrate with other molecules. However, the word "hard" means the inverse. When the dendrimers are charged, the electrostatic forcea cause a stretching of the branches and reduce their degree of flexibility. The dendrimers could behave like "hard spheres".
