    • Crystal structure of human BPI and two bound phospholipids at 2.4 Angstrom resolution
    • of outstanding interest. The solving of the three-dimensional structure confirms the two-domain organization of bactericidal/permeability-increasing protein and reveals a highly elongated structure compatible with simultaneous interactions of the amino- and carboxy-terminal domains with lipopolysaccharide-containing particles and host macromolecular acceptors respectively. The resolved structure also provides insights into similar relationships in the other members of the family of lipid (lipopolysaccharide) interactive proteins.
