Pacifastin, a novel 155-kDa heterodimeric proteinase inhibitor containing a unique transferrin chain

of special interest. Pacifastin is a large proteinase inhibitor in crayfish blood which efficiently inhibits the prophenoloxidase activation through direct inhibition of the activating enzyme. This protein has a unique composition, in that it consists of a light chain with nine proteinase inhibitor domains covalently linked to a heavy chain with three transferrin domains.
