A rigorous statistical review of the available data on the efficacy of conservative therapy for neck pain but somewhat generous in its conclusions. Although effect sizes are calculated, issues such as the clinical significance of the effects achieved and their brief duration are underplayed.

A masterly review of the literature but hampered by the paucity of studies and their lack of quality. Seeking to derive some sort of positive conclusion the authors squeeze significance out of combining small studies that each failed to achieve significance.

A promising report about a treatment for a condition that is becoming increasingly recognized but for which no legitimate therapy has been available. The authors have been courageous in offering a major intervention for a problem that has to date been considered intractable.

The most stringent study of any diagnostic technique for neck pain and the only valid study of the prevalence of any cause of neck pain. No other alleged cause of neck pain has ever been submitted, let alone survived, as comparable a study.

A meticulous and rigorous study. The first double-blind, controlled trial of surgery for spinal pain and a description of the only procedure ever shown to achieve complete relief of chronic neck pain.
