A small increased risk with chronic pancreatitis could not be excluded.

The authors found telomerase activity in pancreatic cancer but not in benign lesions. Additionally, telomerase activity was detected in ductal cells from pancreatic cancer specimens, suggesting the possibility of its use in the diagnosis of cancer.
