2. Cases are known where the at risk partner has the mutation test only after pregnancy and then, given a positive result, proceeds to have the fetus tested. Such cases are, however, rare as they involve the possibility of the at risk parent discovering that he or she has the mutation, having the fetus tested, and deciding about an abortion all in the space of a very few weeks.
3. The exclusion test has an error rate of approximately 1% (which reflects the probability of the mutation and its markers not being inherited in a linked fashion).
